Job Description

A Community school in London's East End require a dynamic, innovative Teacher of English and Media to develop their career by joining a Department driving academic achievement across the board at KS3 and KS4. The position is initially a 12 month postition, but could well become permanent for the right candidate. As well as English Language and Literature, the School also embeds the practical aspects of Media production throughout the wider curriculum.

The successful candidate will be required to plan and deliver English and Media KS3 and KS4; the school offers both GCSE and BTEC course pathways. The school is in the midst of a program of constant improvement, and this years GCSE scores were their best ever. Teachers who have been PGCE Secondary trained from a leading University, who have gone on to prove themselves with successful placements are welcome to apply, but must be able to verify excellent performance on their ability. Candidates based in Tower Hamlets, Newham and other East London boroughs are encouraged to apply, although the school is only 20 minutes from Central London stations on the DLR system.

A proven track record of raising and maintaining attainment in challenging schools is preferred, as is a strong classroom management skill set.
We offer excellent pay rates - A Star will always pay long term placement teachers to scale.
