This is a popular and successful school. The student roll (currently 606 with 156 in the Sixth Form) it expanded to four form of entry in September 2009.
The department has a tradition of excellence and examination results are very good (89% Level 6+ Key Stage 3,80% A*-C,100% AS and A level in 2008).
The Humanities Department is very well resourced, and works closely with the English Department and the School Library. Public speaking is a well established tradition within the school.
The department organises numerous trips and study days. New members of the department are expected to contribute to these enrichment activities.
Candidates must:
* be familiar with the National Curriculum or similar curriculum from overseas
* be seeking long-term, permanent or daily work
* have the right to work in the UK
* have recognised teaching qualifications
* have at least two educational references
* have an overseas police check (if applicable)
* have a current CRB or willingness to undertake one
